Introduction

Moodle has this concept of a Sharing Cart, it's really useful for getting some content from one module to another module easily.

The convenience

When using the sharing cart when sharing a quiz between modules can be very useful because the normal configuration of the Moodle Quiz is that it relies on questions that are stored outside in a separate category in the same module as the quiz. This means that if you want to get a Quiz from one module to another module you would have to normally export the category with the questions then recreate the quiz with all the usual settings. The convenience when using the sharing cart is that it will copy over not only the Quiz and the quiz settings but also the question bank, this means you don't have to export then import the question category then recreate the quiz with the quiz settings. Nice.

The Gotcha

There's always a gotcha. You must be very careful when using the sharing cart to move a quiz, because as we already know it will include the category with all these questions, now, if you already have the same questions in some other category in the destination module and you use the sharing cart to move the quiz you are going to duplicate the questions. So just make sure you check that you avoid this issue.
