Scanning documents on your mobile device and uploading to Moodle

Introduction

You may be required to take your assessment from a remote location and to handwrite your assessment. This usually arises if you have to draw complex diagrams or you need to include mathematical symbols that you don't have installed on your computer. Indeed, your lecturer may request that you handwrite your assessment or exam. So, in that instance, you can scan your completed work and upload it to Moodle using your mobile device.

Note: Please make sure you combine your scanned document with Text (more than 20 words) if you try to upload your document with just the scanned images Turnitin will produce an error saying you should have more than 20 words.

Scanning App

There are lots of scanning apps available for demonstration purposes we are going to use Genius Scan. This is a free app that is available both on iPhone and Android. You should log into the App Store (on iPhone) and the Play Store (on Andriod) and search for Genius Scan and download/install it.

Alternatives

There are lots of different free apps that scan documents to PDF and there are default ways to scan documents to PDF on both iPhone and Android. It really depends on what you are comfortable with. You can even scan a document with Google Drive and all SETU students have access via their SETU google account.
