Moodle Attendance

Introduction

The Attendance activity in Moodle can be added to any module area in Moodle to allow editing lecturers to collect attendance information about their students for each class session.

The attendance module allows you to create multiple sessions, each session being a class period during which you need to take attendance, so a session could be a Lecture, Lab, or Tutorial.   Each session has a date, a start time, and an end time associated with it. Sessions can be automatically repeated for the entirety of the course, so there is no need to create your class sessions one by one. The module can assign grades to students based on their attendance status, or it can be set not to require a grade.

This video shows you how to create a new Attendance activity for a module with general settings. We show you how to set up the attendance activity, how to create sessions, and how you have options when it comes to manually taking attendance or allowing students to self-record attendance through a password or QR code.
