How do I add handouts created in MS Word to the module area in Moodle?

Lecturers can easily add handouts and documents created in Microsoft Word to their module area in Moodle.  The same steps are repeated to add Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint or PDFs to Moodle.  Follow these instructions or browse the Getting Started With Moodle Guide.

Turn editing on in your module

With editing turned on in your module click on the Show option for the section you wish to upload content to.

Select the file for upload

Open the folder on your computer that contains the file you want to upload and resize the Moodle window (screen) and the folder window until you can see both on your screen as above.

Click and drag the file

Click on the file, and without releasing the mouse button, drag it into the module area and then release the mouse button when you see 'Add files(s) here' appear in your module.

You can then relocate this file anywhere in this module area by clicking on the Move icon (displayed above) beside the file in question and dragging it to a new position.
