Making Moodle a more visual and engaging experience.
Introduction.
During this last semester we have been in working in collaboration with some of our academic colleagues to showcase some of the new user interface styles in Moodle that makes the user experience in Moodle a more visual and engaging experience. More information is available here
We have put together some modules that contain some new styles that you can browse at your leisure, all of these modules contain user experience design components that are aimed at different levels of expertise, this means that even if you are not proficient at HTML you will still be able to apply some or all of these components to your own module, or if your HTML/CSS skills are a bit rusty thats okay as well. There are various way to achive results in your module and there are prototyping tools available to aid you as you develop these components.
Apply Different Styles
Moodle allows us to use Bootstrap components in some resources such as labels, you can use a prototyping tool to visualize how the final solution might look or you can change the contents of the components directly in Moodle. Here are just some of the components that you could use.
Jumbotron - Can be used in a welcome section
Media Object - can be used to combine images with text
Headings, Collapsible lists - can be use to combine related material
Video - can be used in discussion forums or within sections in context
